The first Aladdin movie opens in a street market, with a merchant describing various wares for sale. The merchant was voiced by Robin Williams, and the scene was completely unscripted.
The movie was released in 1992, but plans for the movie go back to 1988. Disney was presented with the idea of making Aladdin into a Disney animated musical that year, while they were also working on The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.
